I damn well love this game... have done ever since the first time I saw my brother playing it on his Magic Drive. He actually mentioned last weekend on the phone that Ceasar tends to get the choice of going first more often than the other gods/goddess, so I had to see for myself (I typically always used to play Scarlet, because of course I did).

My mate Chris says he prefers the Amiga version, but for once, the Mega Drive actually comes out on top in my opinion. Okay, you lose the mouse support and Richard Joseph's original rendition of the tune, but the graphics are better and 8-channel stereo sound means you can have everything audible, which none of the 16-bit computer versions were capable of. No loading whatsoever either, meaning instant playback of those fantastic samples that I once recorded on tape and then went on to digitise, I was so impressed with them at the time. (=^_^=)

Incidentally, for this particular playthrough, I make very heavy use of Fusion's fast forward feature, otherwise this video would have ended up hours longer than it needed to be. Being an RT strategy game, it can take a while to build up your resources, especially on the islands that have isolated sectors. It doesn't hurt to go slow on the higher epochs too, since using the in-game speedup can get you nuked in pretty short order. (*_*)

Heh, I'd also like to include that this game is such a wonderfully perfect microcosm for the human condition: the fact that, whatever the age, whatever the level of technology, we'll always be destined to make war with each other. Probably not something to be proud of at the end of the day, yet we are what we are as Nagilum would say, I suppose. (^w^)
