Soil is the life force of all organisms. The life of four organisms out of five on earth is unimaginable without soil. Taking care and preservation of the life giving gift, the juicy and complete earth, is the greatest pious act of the human beings.
Although science and technology has been developed in an unprecedented manner, we Nepalese have failed to identify and utilize the soil in a scientific way. We have failed to select productive cultivable soil and the soil suitable for human settlement. Soil has multiple quality and levels but we are still continuing traditional agriculture on the low quality soil.
We have developed settlements in the soil having fragile structure. Nepalese economic development will progress if we unite for rightful identity of the soil and for sustainable management of eco-friendly agriculture.
Agriculture, the main occupation of Nepal, occupies one third portion of Nepal’s Gross Domestic Production. But in the last two decades the cultivable lands are left fallow because of the uncontrolled destruction of forest and natural sources and the lack of labour force. Ultimately, we Nepalese suffer food crisis every year.
