This is part 6 in a tutorial series I'm doing for Oxygen Not Included. This episode shows you how to build a sleet wheat farm in the ice biome. I've found this to be the best food to grow and provides the best yield for invested resources. This may change in future patches.

I start off by finding an ice biome that is close to the main base. This saves me having to build a cold room and cooling it down. I use farm tiles as they are the easiest to use but will not give a perfect yield. I leave 2 tiles of room between each floor of farm tiles so the dupes can tend to the plants.

You'll want a good source of fertilizer before you build a lot of farm tiles. I find roughly 1 fertilizer maker will cover 10-20 farm tiles. On this map I had 4 fertilizer makers and that hopefully will cover 80-100 farm tiles with sleet wheat.

You'll also want to make sure you don't use up all your sleet wheat grains. Make sure not to cook too many frost buns in the cooking station. Over time you should have the grains build up and it won't be an issue. As long as you don't cook too much food to fast you should be ok.

You may also want to assign 1 dedicated cook per cooking station using the jobs menu. I've set my cook to only do massage and cooking. I set massage to keep their stress down. I also periodically remove frost buns from the cooking queue if I see my food building up too fast. I currently have around 12 dupes and when I hit 40,000 food I turn it off.
