Why would I sell my home to an investor?

Everyone knows that in order to sell your home, you reach out to a real estate agent. So why would someone consider selling to an investor? The reasons are many and include the want for privacy or speed.

Many people live in homes that are in need of significant repair, or are full of "stuff" -hoarder houses - and they do not want their home lives published all over the MLS and 100 public websites like Zillow or Realtor.com. They don't want their neighbors walking through their homes and personal belongings during an open house. They want to sell fast, to a single buyer, who will maintain their privacy.

Other people may inherit homes that are vacant or in significant disrepair. Such homes will likely never sell to a retail buyer because they need so much work. Only an investor would buy such a home. So why add real estate commissions to that? Just sell directly to the investor.

Basically, 99% of people should not sell to an investor. You will almost always do better listing your home for sale with an agent, but there are some people, who need the specialized services that only an investor can bring.
