Mudskippers introduced to tidal mangrove tank

It has been 4 years since we started building and setting up the tidal mangrove paludarium.
It has been running only with snails and bumblebee gobies, but we are finally releasing mudskippers to the tank.

Since we are in New Zealand it has been very hard to source them, but we have finally manage to get 3. After a month in quarantine at a government facility, they where available on the market.

They arrived in pretty poor condition and one was severely underweight and skinny. After another 12 days of de worming in our home quarantine set up, with plenty of various food to gain weight and get their strength back, they were finally ready to be released into the main tank.

They are Periophthalmus barbarus, Atlantic mudskippers! The only species that inhabits the west African coast line. P barbarus grows up to 25 cm and is one of the larger mudskipper species.
