Congress Launches Portal Against 'Vote Chori', Demands EC Accountability

The Congress party has escalated its attack on alleged poll rigging, launching a new online platform where citizens can register their opposition to what it calls “vote chori” — or vote theft.
Unveiled on August 10, the web portal — ecdemands.rvotechori.in — allows users to report alleged electoral fraud, download proof, and demand accountability from the Election Commission of India.
At the heart of the campaign is Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who claims a massive electoral fraud has taken place — one he describes as a “criminal conspiracy” involving the BJP and the Election Commission.
Gandhi argues that “vote theft” undermines the fundamental principle of Indian democracy — one person, one vote.
“Our demand is simple,” he said.
“Make the digital voter list public, so the people and political parties can audit it themselves.”

The site also features a video message from Gandhi, where he reiterates his allegations, and calls on citizens to support the demand for transparency in the electoral process.
Once registered, users receive a digital certificate declaring their stance against vote fraud. They can also call a hotline or use an SMS link to participate.
In response, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde dismissed the allegations, urging the Congress to approach the courts or the Election Commission if they have evidence.

Shinde’s comments came after Gandhi cited the Maharashtra assembly poll results as proof that elections were “stolen.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has demanded the Election Commission “clean up” the electoral rolls, calling fraudulent entries a threat to democracy.
As the political battle over electoral integrity intensifies, the spotlight now turns to the Election Commission — and whether it will respond to growing public demands for transparency.
