Niavaran Palace is a historic complex located in the northern part of Tehran, Iran. It served as a royal residence during the Qajar and Pahlavi dynasties and is now a museum open to the public. Here’s a detailed overview of Niavaran Palace.
The Niavaran area was originally used as a summer retreat during the Qajar dynasty. Fath-Ali Shah, the second Qajar king, constructed a small pavilion here, which was the first royal building in the area.
The current Niavaran Palace complex was largely developed during the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran. The main palace building was completed in 1968. It was intended as a private residence for the Shah and his family, serving as their primary residence until the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
