Pt. Shivanand Shankargouda Patil. Born in Ichalkaranji in Maharashtra, he is an Economics graduate with a post-graduate degree in Arts in Hindi Literature.
A vocalist across genres in Hindustani Classical Vocal, Semi-Classical Vocal, Sugam Sangeet, Natya Sangeet, Bhakti Sangeet, Semi- classical Vocal in Marathi and Kannada, he is a composer of several bandishein under the name "Shivrang" and has composed semi-classical songs in these two languages, abhang in Marathi and dasvani and sharanvani in Kannada.

Taking his first training from mother Hirabai and father Shankargouda Patil, he had a stream of eminent teachers including from the Kannada Drama Company, Pt. Appasaheb Pangerikar, Pt. D. V. Kanebuva, Dr. Basavraj Rajguru, Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, Pt. Yashwantbuva Joshi, Pt. Yeshwant Deo, Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Pt.Vasant Kanakapur and Dr. Gangubai Hangal and has learnt tabla from Ustad Kashim Jamadar and Pt. Baburao Kalavant. His parents were artistes from Kannada theatre and Shivanand was brought up by great artistes from theatre. An 'A'-grade vocalist for Hindustani Classical Music, Marathi Sugam Sangeet and Kannada Sugam Sangeet with All-India Radio, he has done several concerts and Sangeet Sammelans and an A-grade artiste on television across various channels.

Pt Shivanand has had several awards like the Rajyotasava Puraskar from the government of Karnataka, the Surmani Khitab from the Sur-Singar Samsad, the Pt.Ram Marathe award from the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, the Swar-Raj Chhota Gandharva and Pt.Bhatkande award from Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, Natya Darpan award, the Swararaj Chhota Gandharva Gaurav award from the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, the Bal Gandharva Puraskar award from the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, the Smt. Krishna Hangal Memorial National Award from the Hangal Foundation and the Sangeet Kalaratna Puraskar among others.

Pt.Shivanand and has been associated in many projects with Lata Mangeshkar, Pt.Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Pt. Yeshwant Deo, Ashok Patki, Anil Mohile, Prabhakar Pandit, Bhaskar Chandavarkar, Sudhir Moghe, Pt. Ram Narayan, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Dr. N. Rajam, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Begum Parween Sultana and Ustad Dilshad Khan. He has also been in the cast of several musical plays and has sung playback in several films.
