As a huge fan of Tim Burton, Netflix’s series Wednesday, and The Addams Family, I was inspired to make this crystal Ball from scratch. Utilizing woodworking, 3D Printing, and model making techniques, I present my interpretation of this amazing prop!

Note: These dimension give a good idea of the proportions, however there are a lot of tight fits and I would adjust them to fit your build. I learned a lot of lessons with this video/build, one of which is to keep better track of my measurements as I go. Going forward I plan to have a lot more details/specifications of my builds, so they're more easily repeatable.

I began this project by closely analyzing stills from Wednesday, comparing the actor’s heights and other items in the shots to get measurements for the crystal ball. Once I had rough measurements and a broad idea of how to tackle this prop, I 3D modeled it in Sharp3D.

Next, I began utilizing my table saw and other woodworking tools to assemble the structure. Since the scenes from Wednesday didn’t showcase the entirety of the box I had to fill in the blanks, creating a unique latching mechanism with a twisted round bar forged ring, and a paracord bracelet buckle.

After, the structure was complete, I started with the hardware, which consists of mostly 3D printed parts, that I 3D modeled to look as close to the show as possible. Painting them with weathering techniques to make them look vintage and worn.
I’m so happy how it turned out, and I’m glad I was able to share it!
