The Welsh Marches Express with D9002, 13254 & 34094 'Mortehoe' - 15.9.2024 (& Bonus)

Описание к видео The Welsh Marches Express with D9002, 13254 & 34094 'Mortehoe' - 15.9.2024 (& Bonus)

Sunday's 'Welsh Marches Express' was the first of two tours to utilise North Somerset Railway Stanier Mogul No. 13254, coming out for the first time in a while, and West Country No. 34094 'Mortehoe' over the Welsh Marches line between Bristol and Shrewsbury. This one originated in Paignton using Ottery Preservation Society Mk1 stock, and Churnet Valley Railway Class 55 No. D9002 'King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry'.

Our first view is of the Deltic catching the sunrise as its journey begins, first powering up grade through Torre Station, skirting the sea wall at Teignmouth, and finally passing Stoke Canon at speed. Then it's the Mogul's turn, seen climbing hard through Stapleton Road shortly after being attached at Bristol Temple Meads, accelerating out of the Severn Tunnel at Severn Tunnel Junction, then climbing the 1:90 gradient through Cwmbran Station with her 10 coach train. We then see the Mogul resting during the water stop at Hereford. Finally, we see the start of the return leg with 34094, first drawing the stock into Shrewsbury Station, then a front window shot accelerating away from Sutton Bridge Junction. The train is seen speeding past All Stretton and Ludlow with plenty of whistling, before itself being removed for the Hereford water stop.

Included here is some bonus footage of the North Somerset Railway on Tuesday the 17th. Engineering works on Conduit Hill Bank has led to the line being split in two, with the usual loco roster - Today consisting of Ivatt 2MT Tank No. 1303 and Ex-GWR Manor No. 7829 'Ramsbury Manor' - operating the western section between Radstock and Mells Road, and Class 205 No. 1112 operating the eastern section between Frome Market and Flowers Farm Halt. First we focus on the 205, seeing it being started up at Frome Market and brought into the station to work the 10:31 departure to Flowers Farm. The unit is seen passing Leonards Mill Crossing and arriving at Flowers Farm, and finally leaving Frome again with the subsequent 12:00 departure. Meanwhile, 7829 arrives at Kilmersdon with the 10:35 Radstock - Mells Road service. Then the Ivatt is seen climbing the 1:77 out of Radstock with the 11:01 service, followed by an on-train shot of the final approach to Mells Road, and running round the train before heading back down with the 11:30 departure to Radstock.

This video was recorded in Train Simulator using the Xbox Game Bar and edited using Microsoft Clipchamp in September 2024. Note: Regular viewers probably noticed some of the nice details I used to have in my videos like region-coloured intro backgrounds and text outlines have disappeared. This is because Microsoft Clipchamp keeps changing to make itself increasingly more annoying to use, and I've been forced to adapt. As of the next video, text captions will cease completely. Apologies for the dip in quality this has caused.
