(Jul. 24, 2020) New Elevation fight team member Tywan “Air” Claxton (6-1) makes his return to the Bellator cage on Friday night when he takes on the 5-0 undefeated prospect from New Zealand, Jay Jay Wilson. This will be Claxton’s first fight training with Sean Madden and Elevation Fight Team, and it will be an exciting matchup of dynamic featherweights both attempting to climb their way up the Bellator divisional ranks. The fights take place at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut and can be streamed live on DAZN, Friday night, starting at 8:00 pm MST.

The Dana White Contender Series season 4 lineup for week one has been announced and there will be a showdown of two Colorado light heavyweights in a featured bout of the evening. Dustin Jacoby (11-5) of Factory X will face Ty Flores (7-2) of Elevation Fight Team in a clash of two of Colorado’s top MMA gyms. The fights go down on August 4th at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas.

The Contender series is an opportunity for fighters competing on the regional scene to fight in front of UFC president Dana White with the goal of impressing him enough to earn a UFC contract. We would love to see both these guys get a crack at the UFC, but it is likely only the winner will be considered. Ty Flores has won 5 fights in a row coming in and Dustin Jacoby most recently won the King of Sparta Heavyweight tournament in 2019. Jacoby has 8 KOs and 1 Submission win out of his 11 pro victories. The UFC, Bellator, & Glory Kickboxing veteran, Jacoby, has banged with some of the best strikers in the world in kickboxing matches, including Alex Pereira and Simon Marcus. Flores on the other hand has 3 submission wins and 1 KO in his record going into the bout. And he will be looking to make it 6 wins in a row while earning his first shot at the UFC with a big victory. Josh Wick (11-5), originally scheduled to fight Nick Browne (9-1) at LFA 87 on July 31st is unfortunately out of that fight due to a fractured rib that happened late in camp. We wish a speedy recovery to the Elevation and Pound 4 Pound fighter.

Additionally, Chaz Alex of Pariah MMA will have his pro debut postponed due to an unfortunate injury to his opponent. Keep an eye out for the rescheduling of his debut.
