In a daring campaign against the Scourge in Northrend, Illidan faced off against the deathknight Arthas in an attempt to destroy the Frozen Throne. However, Arthas defeated Illidan and left him wounded in the snow, allowing Illidan to witness the creation of the new Lich King.

Kael'thas Sunstrider and Lady Vashj, realising their defeat, brought Illidan with them as they fled back to Outland. Seeing their master's ugly wounds, they decide to bring him back to the Hellfire Citadel so that he may recover... but, unbeknownst to them, Outland was in a state of a minor civil war.

Soon after that, tensions rise in the blood elven society as the Grand Magistrix Alessandra Katryne proposes a dangerous idea: reclamation of their homeland, Quel'Thalas.

Rise of the Blood Elves is the first of two campaign series created by tomoraider. A beautifully created custom tech-tree for the Blood Elves complete with UI enhancements, and a brilliantly selected musical score. The story behind Rise of the Blood Elves takes part shortly after Illidan's encounter with Arthas before the Frozen Throne, and loosely follows the official lore behind what happened between WC3: The Frozen Throne and the events of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.

The first part for Rise of the Blood Elves follows the background immediately after Illidan's encounter with Arthas, looking to recover him in his weakened state and to retake the various powers of Outland under Illidan's banner. All while trying in earnest to help alleviate the magical addiction that the Sin'Dorei are afflicted with.
