Learning on Stones - The Brutal Reality of Lyari’s Education System

Описание к видео Learning on Stones - The Brutal Reality of Lyari’s Education System

In Episode 9 of BalochCha, my father Saeed reflects on his tough childhood in Lyari during the final days of Bhutto’s regime. Growing up amidst crime and facing discrimination for his Baloch heritage and limited Urdu skills, Saeed endured the harsh realities of a socioeconomically deprived education system. In schools without seats, where students sat on rocks and lacked basic amenities like usable washrooms, running water and fans to combat the heat. Saeed and his peers were overwhelmed by the pressure to learn multiple languages and subjects from a young age. Adding to their stress was the uncertainty of having electricity or water at home; many nights were spent studying by candlelight, (unfortunately similar to Lyari currently). Despite these challenges, Saeed continued to persevere. His academic life took a positive turn when he met a compassionate Baloch teacher known as Professor Ali Muhammad Shaheen. Professor Shaheen inspired Saeed to grow a love for books and education through an empathetic and innovative approach. This mentorship not only helped Saeed excel academically but also became a beacon of hope in his tumultuous world. Join us as we explore how resilience and the right guidance transformed Saeed's life.
