Oakley and I make a few exploration spots while traveling on Emerson Creek road and found river access to the Athabasca and also a lovely little campground surrounded by emerald colored lakes. We'll have to trust the pictures about the emerald color part because they were all frozen but nonetheless an amazing spot to go check out during our camping expeditions in 2021.

Emerson Lakes Campground is found in Sundance Provincial Park, 56 km northeast of Hinton on Emerson Creek Road. The park is off the beaten path, but once you find it, you'll be rewarded with a chain of 5 small lakes and about 7 km of trails to explore. You can fish, canoe, or take an electric powered boat on the lakes and view the hoodoos on the Wild Sculpture Trail.
