After seeing Nunney Castle yesterday in Somerset,    • LSL 5029 'NUNNEY CASTLE' with the Steam Dr...   we headed up country to North Wales, and get straight into the action at the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway Platinum Jubilee Gala as part of Railway 200!

This was a celebration of the Seventieth Anniversary of restored passenger services on the Ffestiniog Railway, culminating in a grand cavalcade display of operational and out of traffic locomotives steaming between Minffordd, Boston Lodge and Porthmadog Harbour, with over 200 wheels traversing the Cob, the Sea Wall Causeway connecting both sides of the Glaslyn Estuary, running through the harbour into Porthmadog, with the impressive parade overseen and by the National Railway Museums Anthony Coulls, Railway Historian and Television Personality Tim Dunn and the late Alan Pegler's daughter Penny Vaudoyer amongst other dignitaries!

Enjoy this amazing spectacle of all Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland 'toys out the box' on a blustery Sunday afternoon, as the Welsh Highland heavyweights ease off shed, and the Ffestiniog locomotives converge on Porthmadog for a rare and truly memorable finale to the gala, as part of this years Railway 200 celebrations! | 21-22.06.2025
