In the 90s, the Brazilian Air Force needed to find a light training aircraft that could replace its AT 26 Xavante, and that would also be capable of carrying out air policing missions, especially against drug trafficking planes. This aircraft had to be compatible with the operational characteristics of the Brazilian Amazon region, which required an aircraft capable of operating from short runways and with little structure, which had good autonomy and was capable of operating in any climate, in addition to having an operational cost low. Based on these requirements, the company Embraer designed the EMB 314 Super Tucano.
