Mexican and US authorities have arrested Martha Alicia Mendez Aguilar, alias ‘La Diabla,’ a top member of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, in Ciudad Juárez. She is accused of running a brutal network that lured poor pregnant women, performed fatal illegal caesareans, harvested their organs, and sold newborns for up to $14,000. With the cartel now designated a foreign terrorist group, officials hope her extradition to the US will help dismantle the trafficking ring.
