All the above models do a good job in protecting your motorcycle from fall . Heavier ones are better though.

One thing to be kept in mind is that the more complex the crash guard design is , more the tendency to hurt and break your leg during a fall.

During a fall , you land on your hands ,the motorcycle lands on your thighs and your legs around the handlebar area or around the rear end of the engine block. The Air fly guard , although very popular for it’s looks , tends to break your lower leg .

My advise is to go for a heavy and simple design. The Diamond and the Simple Bars do a fine job

we must understand the primary purpose of a Leg Guard. This is a metal protrusion to the side that prevents the machine from crushing / burning your leg if it falls on you. For safety reasons I would always recommend that everyone install a rider leg guard. If you travel pillion a lot then it may also make sense for you to install a pillion leg guard.

From a safety perspective there are two things you must consider.

Your leg guard should be built from a hard and strong material. It need not necessarily be metal, but it should withstand about 350kg of dry weight on it (your machine’s weight plus the rider/pillion’s weight if you have not yet been thrown off). I would be suspicious of any material that is hollow in the inside.
The metal protrusion must be long enough that when it hits the ground it keeps your engine/silencer safely above your sandwiched leg. This distance should include any additional leg guards you wear.
N.B: If possible try to avoid any metal or alloy that rusts. Rust deteriorates strength, quality and durability. Alternatively, if you are confident that you can maintain it then that’s your call.
