When you’re done exploring Kampa, you can walk across this famous Charles Bridge back toward the city center. Before talking about the Bridge, I wanna talk about another scam alert - UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU CHANGE MONEY ON THE STREET. Organized gangs operate near the Bridge and in Central Prague near exchange offices and target unsuspecting tourists by offering a better rate. Instead of giving you Koruna, they will instead give you another currency, such as worthless Czechoslovak banknote. So, only change money from authorized exchange offices.

Okay, so the Charles Bridge. It's one of the most historic bridges in Europe, built by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV and completed in the 1400s. The bridge is lined with multiple statues and offers great views of the Vltava River. This pedestrian bridge has beautiful views of the city, is conveniently located to many of the tourist attractions, is free and you'll likely cross it many times on the way while sightseeing so, a special trip to see the bridge is not required.
However, come here early in the morning to avoid crowds so that you’ll be able to really enjoy the views from both sides of the bridge. This place is teeming with local artists which adds to the cultural vibe...as if the giant statues and the history of each isn't enough. Walking across the bridge gave me some sort of a rush, as if I got teleported back in time and was historically, in medieval times. Probably not as obvious in the video but the tall statues are really tall and their imposing presence will drawf you when you're standing right in front, watching...admiring the skill and craftmanship that went into making these figures. If you're into History or Art, you could easily spend hours here on this bridge.
For a city with a river running through it, Charles bridge isn't the only bridge here but it's the one which, deservingly, gets the most love from the tourists. Many centuries have passed between the oldest constructed and still standing – The Charles Bridge, and the construction of the newest one in Troja, which was finished in 2014. Today, there are 17 bridges in total over the Vltava river. A unique feature of Prague’s bridges is that they are set rather close together and thus offer unique perspectives.
All the bridges, and the Castle are beautifully illuminated with special lights which makes for stunning photos after dark. Most of the bridges remain crowded with tourists till around 9 pm but then they get quite empty. Between 10pm and midnight is the best time to be at the bridges for photography. The special illumination ends at midnight, so, there is not much to photograph after that.
During your visit to Prague, you should make time and definitely do a boat cruise. The perspective of viewing the amazing sights and architecture of this beautiful city while on a boat floating down the river is a very relaxing experience. The Prague River, more commonly known amongst locals as the Vltava, is the longest river in the country. The river divides the city: on one side of the river lies Old Town and New Town, and on the other bank lies the Lesser Town and Prague Castle, which is truly a sight to behold from the river cruise. The Charles Bridge joins the two banks. While choosing the river cruise operator, opt for the one which has the best ratings on TripAdvisor and book the 'normal' tickets i.e. not premium or deluxe, for me, the price to experience offered ratio just doesn't add up. Also, the 1 hour cruise is a bit too quick and the one for 5 hrs. including food and drinks is a bit too elaborate.
