Knowing what a substation is can be essential to understanding how it should be designed. So what is it?
A substation is a large piece of equipment that can convert power from one voltage to another so that it can be more easily used. Substations can be designed in such a way as to increase the overall reliability of the electrical distribution system to keep a facility running despite a failure of a part of the system.
