The Joint Competence Initiative for the Building Envelope Sector (JCI) introduces the Baseline Competency Assessment—a transformative tool designed to align with the evolving standards in façades, as demanded by the Building Safety Act. This assessment will provide industry professionals with a structured way to validate their knowledge gained from prior learning and expertise, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge to work-related scenarios, bridging the gap left by a lack of formal qualifications for many roles in the facade sector. This assessment is designed to be used in combination with other ways to prove competence and to assist professionals with identifying the gap in knowledge, which can later be addressed with continuous professional development and formal qualifications.
