Transcript:
Hi Friends. Today morning I visited the Adoor Mahalingeshwara temple located in Kasaragod district. The picturesque village of Adoor is located around 37-38 kms from Kasaragod town. The drive to this temple was a beautiful experience with winding roads running uphill and downhill with beautiful landscape views. We enjoyed the drive thoroughly. It took us around 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach here from Kasaragod town. It is believed that Arjuna from Mahabharatha built this temple.
Centuries ago when the Kumbla Rajas rules over the area, they presided over 4 main temples namely Madhur Madanantheshwara temple, Mujungavu Vishnu temple, Kanipura Krishna temple and this one.

Just look at the grandeur of this temple! It is so beautiful. Madhur temple architecture also resembles this one, especially towards the rear.

Looks like there is a lot of renovation work in progress here as seen here.

As the name suggests, the main deity in this temple is Lord Maheshwara or Lord Shiva with co-deities for Maha Vishnu and Ganapathy on the left and right side. There is a statue of Nandi who is Lord Shiva's vehicle in the front of the temple.

There is a shrine dedicated to Lord Ayyappa or Shastha here called Vana Shastha Cave temple. The shrine door is closed at the moment. After offering my prayers, I am headed back now. Take a look at this. It looks like a forest area. It is beautiful to look at. There is a small stream nearby. I think this is a small tributary from the Payaswini river along which this temple is located. Payaswini river is also known as Chandragiri river locally. I am slowly walking back, enjoying the babbling of the stream and the chirping of the birds. If possible, please do visit this temple. As I said earlier, the drive to the temple was nice. Same goes for the architecture of the temple which is amazing. There is also this grove and shrine here which is an amazing feel in itself.

Until next time, bye, see you soon!
