This is a 10 minute meditation to help balance the solar plexus chakra (Sanskrit: manipura), the third chakra in the body’s chakra system. It is located above your navel and below your sternum. It's color is yellow and the element is fire.

The solar plexus chakra is the home of our personal power, ego, self-esteem, willpower, and life purpose. Physically, the solar plexus chakra is associated with your central metabolic system, your nervous system, as well as your liver and pancreas. It also controls our digestive system.

Conditions or states of mind associated with an imbalanced solar plexus chakra (manipura) are:

lacking confidence or self-esteem (under-active) OR aggressive or bullying behavior (over-active)
overly critical of yourself and/or others
fear of rejection or criticism
trouble making decisions
you are lacking self-control
taking risks or taking charge
lack of energy
lack self-discipline and being unreliable.

Meditation is one of the most effective ways to help balance an imbalanced chakra.

To perform a specific chakra meditation you have to center your attention on the position of the chakra. For example, for a solar plexus chakra meditation, you can place your hands just below your sternum or simply mentally focus on that area of the body. Then, as you meditate, focusing on your breathing and calming it down with a deep breaths in and out through the nose, visualize the chakra circulating as a glowing ball of yellow light below your sternum. Continue the meditation with deep inhalations and exhalations through the nose, all the time imagining a harmonious flow of energy within the chakra. If your mind wanders, that's okay. Just connect back to the focus of your meditation and your breath and continue until you feel ready to stop.
