Is Pyromane a cat that controls fire, or living fire that can make itself look like a cat? It does seem to have more in common with the Phoenix from that desert ARK than any lion. An author named Clarke said sufficiently advanced technology would be indistinguishable from magic...I'd say that whatever engineered this creature was plenty advanced.
An unruffled Pyromane will stay at a low burn and shrink its profile. But when provoked, that small cat can suddenly flare itself up into a lion-sized inferno.
It seems to drink in any nearby fire, using that power to cauterize its own wounds and power up its arsenal of incendiary attacks.

Domesticated
I've only seen one tame Pyromane so far. Its rider seemed unbothered by the beast's flames, and beyond that immune to heat in general while mounted. She claimed it could even carry her safely across a lava field. That survivor said she spent ages trying to win her cat over, before noticing it seemed more sluggish in the rain.
In its smaller form, her pet doubled as a shoulder-mounted feline flamethrower. And back at their campsite, she showed me how her pet could fuel a forge and dry meat into jerky. I can definitely see why such an improbable but versatile creature might have been engineered, even if I don't understand how.
