Abou Tarek in Cairo that has been featured on CNN. Established in 1950, Abou Tarek has become Cairo’s most famous center for the traditional Egyptian street-food classic, Koshary.

Koshari (Egyptian Rice, Lentils, and Macaroni with Spicy Tomato Chile Sauce) also spelled Koshary or Kushari is the national dish of Egypt. It’s served in virtually every Egyptian restaurant, in every Egyptian home, and on every Egyptian street corner.

Abou Tarek Koshary is located on the corner of Maarouf and Champollion streets in the heart of downtown Cairo’s hectic car mechanics district.

Trying out the best shawarma spot in Egypt if not the world called Abou Haidar, if you are ever visiting Egypt this is a go to!
Shawarma is a dish in Middle Eastern cuisine consisting of meat cut into thin slices, stacked in a cone-like shape, and roasted on a slowly-turning vertical rotisserie or spit. Originally made of lamb or mutton, today's shawarma may also be chicken, turkey, beef, or veal
