One of the most shocking moments in European History was when Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette the King and Queen of France went to their executions on the guillotine. But their bodies were then taken to the Madeleine Cemetery in Paris and they were buried in an unmarked grave bereft of their royal status. But this would not be the end of the story.

Decades after their bodies were buried, Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI's remains were exhumed and they were then collected in chests before they were buried in a huge ceremony in the Basilica of St Denis.
