We finish all of our pieces at Brown County Forge with this traditional hot beeswax method. It involves heating the metal either in the forge or with a propane torch. This brings the metal to a very low heat that's just hot enough to melt the beeswax.

We then rub beeswax over the hot piece. Once it's coated, we wipe it off with a rag revealing the darkened piece.

Now the piece is protected from moisture and will take on a nice patina with regular use.
