Suga grew up in a financially struggling household where both of his parents worked hard to make ends meet. With no money for family trips or festivals, life was tough, and expectations were even tougher. His father, a strict man, wanted him to pursue a government job for a stable career. But Suga had other plans. Secretly, with only his mother’s support, he auditioned for BigHit Entertainment at just 18. When he passed, his father was furious and refused to attend any BTS concerts until 2016, when BTS had rising fame. That year, Suga publicly thanked his parents on stage, holding back tears. Suga’s real name is Min Yoongi but during his trainee days, a PD, with the name "Bang" named him suga because of his flawless skin which mimic the white color of sugar and his gummy smile which is so sweet like the taste of sugar. Then his 2nd stage name "Agust D" came from his hometown. if you read Agust D backwards, the first two letters are D and T, where the D represents his hometown "Daegu", and the T represents town simply "Daegu Town"

Suga is 174 cm tall (around 5'8") and weighs about 59 kg (roughly 130 lbs). So naturally, he says his ideal girl would be someone shorter and lighter than him.
At a fan meeting, he mentioned he prefers a girl who is about 150 to 160 cm tall (4'11" to 5'3") and weighs around 43 to 47 kg (95 to 104 lbs). While that weight may seem low to many, it actually aligns with the typical beauty standards for female idols in South Korea.

Physically, he doesn’t have a preference for skin tone, but personality-wise, he likes someone who is calm, thoughtful, and caring — someone who can balance out his quiet and introverted nature. She should be cute, but also emotionally mature.

Suga has a fear of fireworks and gets terrified by their sound. He also had a habit of biting his fingernails, a nervous habit he showed even after BTS’s debut.

Before debut, Suga worked part-time as a delivery boy and once got into a motorcycle accident. He didn’t tell BigHit, fearing they’d kick him out.
