Описание к видео Indonesia’s Vanishing Forests: Too Little, Too Late For Asia’s Largest Rainforest? | Insight

Indonesia is home to one of the greatest and the oldest biodiversity hotspots on the planet. It's also the world's third largest tropical forest. But today, the country's critical natural resource is depleting. Between 2001 and 2017, Indonesia lost 24 million hectares of its forest cover to massive deforestation. Forest degradation has also been blamed for the deadly natural disasters such as floods and landslides in recent years. What has been done to save Indonesia's beleaguered rainforests? Or have all the efforts to stop and reverse the process of deforestation come too little too late?
