Tianshui in Gansu is a significant birthplace of Chinese civilization. At the same time, it’s also a representative city in terms of the northwest food. Besides the renowned Maijishan Grottoes, it also boasts a mysterious food which is named Tianshui Guagua. For the people who first see Guagua, they wouldn’t know what it is. Topped with a thick layer of chili oil and sesame paste, the food looks plain, monotonous and even a little ugly. Lots of people are daunted by its look.
