For a player his size, Dirk had an amazing ability to get past defenders and use his body/footwork to maneuver around the defense. In this clip, Dirk is standing straight up near the left block, waiting for his teammate to come set the down screen for him. As his teammate comes to set the screen, he initiates contact with the defender and comes off the screen, catching the ball at the three-point line in the middle of the floor in triple-threat position with the ball high near his face. He then steps his right foot in front of his body and swings the ball over his head in triple-threat. Once the defender swipes at the ball, he then rips through towards the middle of the floor and instantly spins back to his left when the defender cuts off his angle. He then takes a dribble with his left, with his body facing the sideline, and then accelerates past the defender and finishes at the rim with a left-hand extension layup over the late contest.
