Fuel Pump Relay TESTING and REPLACEMENT

How to test and replace a fuel pump relay. The principles shown here apply to most vehicles. However, it's best to check with your vehicle's repair manual for testing parameters.This specific vehicle is a '97 Nissan Maxima.

The fuel pump relay is an electronic component found on all vehicles with an internal combustion engine. It directs current to the electric fuel pump and ensures that the part receives enough power to operate properly, but not too much as to damage it. Whenever you turn on the ignition of your vehicle, the fuel pump relay is turned on. The fuel pump relay is usually controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or the ignition.
