🌍 About This Place

White Sands National Park feels unreal — endless white gypsum dunes, complete silence, and a landscape that looks like snow in the middle of a desert. Even though it’s close to Texas, most people don’t even know this place exists.

In this video, I share my road-trip experience to White Sands and how reachable it is from Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. This one place completely changed my perception about exploring around Texas and nearby states.

🏜️ Why the Sand Is So Different

The sand at White Sands is not normal sand — it’s made of gypsum crystals. That’s why it stays bright white, feels soft under your feet, and doesn’t get extremely hot even in strong sunlight.

🎟️ Entry, IDs & Passes (Important)

To enter White Sands National Park, you’ll need:
• One valid ID — State ID, Driver’s License, or Passport
• One entry pass (choose any one option below)

Entry Pass Options:
• $25 — Private vehicle (covers all passengers, valid for 7 days)
• $20 — Motorcycle
• $15 — Per person (walk-in or bicycle)

Annual Pass Options:
• $45 — White Sands Annual Pass (park-specific)
• $80 — America the Beautiful Annual Pass (for U.S. residents)
→ Work / student visa holders with a U.S. state ID are considered residents
• $250 — Non-resident annual pass
• Free / discounted passes available for seniors, military, access, and volunteers

🚔 Border Patrol Checkpoint Info

There is no immigration check at the park gate, but before reaching the park, you’ll pass a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint. Officers usually ask if you’re a U.S. citizen or resident, and sometimes they may check IDs. Carrying valid documents is important while traveling.

📸 Photography & Video Tips

For clean dunes without footprints, park a little further inside (3rd or 4th parking area) and walk past a few dunes. The deeper you go, the cleaner and more cinematic the dunes get. This place is truly a heaven for photo and video lovers.
