A petition has been submitted to the Supreme Court accusing the Jharkhand government of violating judicial orders in appointing the Director General of Police (DGP). The All India Primitive Tribal Development Committee claims the state modified selection rules and removed a DGP against court directives. Senior IPS officer Ajay Kumar Singh was replaced, reinstated, and then removed again post-elections. A new policy bypassing UPSC was introduced on January 7, 2025. The petitioner demands the cancellation of these changes and contempt proceedings against the state. The Supreme Court is set to review the case.
