The Saadabad collection has passed the four historical periods of the Qajar period, the first Pahlavi, the second Pahlavi, and after the Iranian revolution.
The palace complex of Saad Abad Museum was built in the Qajar period and was the summer residence (yilaq) of the kings of this dynasty. After the coup d'état of 1999 and its occupation by the Pahlavi family, many buildings were built in it, amounting to 18 palaces of different sizes. Each of the buildings was the residence of a member of the Pahlavi family.
Saadabad Palace includes 18 palaces and museums, one of which is the Palace of the Military Museum.
This palace was built by the order of Reza Shah for his second wife, Taj Al-Muluk. After that, it was rebuilt by Ashraf Pahlavi and given to his eldest son Shahram and became known as Shahram Palace. After the Iranian Islamic Revolution, this palace was turned into a military museum. In the courtyard of this museum, there are various tanks, war cannons, several airplanes and a historical ship related to the Iranian army, and inside there are statues of Iranian soldiers throughout history and in the order of their rule from the Achaemenid era to the Islamic Republic.
