Beyond Codes and Aesthetics with Evonne Yuan | Art Focus, Spoken.

Описание к видео Beyond Codes and Aesthetics with Evonne Yuan | Art Focus, Spoken.

In this episode we spoke with Evonne Jiawei Yuan about art market performance during Covid, collecting digital art, and art-tech collaborations. Some of the biggest questions surrounding NFTs today revolves around the idea of ownership in a world where everything flows freely on the internet. This conversation explored some of the key ideas of collecting new media art, such as encoding exclusivity, certifying orginal ownership, and setting price points of digital art sold through galleries.

About the speaker:
Evonne graduated from Fudan University with B.A. in Museology, The Courtauld Institute of Art with M.A. in History of Art, and the Architectural Association School of Architecture with M.A. in History & Critical Thinking. Her current research interests include the architectural media in-and-of contemporary art, (post)modern spatial concepts, border aesthetics and its geopolitics. During her career at Don Gallery, Shanghai, she curated exhibitions “Shanghai Dandy” (2017) as well as “Steadfastly Raise the Standards in Nonproductive Construction.” Her articles have been featured in artforum, Artsy Magazine, ArtChina, LEAP, and so on. Evonne now works for Long March Space in Beijing. She recently curated the exhibition "Joshua Nathanson: Wildfire Delivery" at Brownie Project Gallery.
