Battle of the brothers: XHDATA D-219 vs D-368 on shortwave

Описание к видео Battle of the brothers: XHDATA D-219 vs D-368 on shortwave

The XHDATA D-219 and the XHDATA D-368 are two popular, inexpensive DSP-based radios with analogue tuning displays. I have had my D-219 since its release day and I have always been very impressed by this little radio. Available for less than $10, it offers SW sensitivity that is on par with much more expensive radios. My D-368 is a new arrival, it was sent to me as a review copy by XHDATA a few months ago.

I think these two radios are quite similar in terms of SW sensitivity. The D-368 has some additional functions, such as MP3 playback via a TF card or USB input. It costs around $20, still very reasonable.

This video compares these two radios on several shortwave signals, including some very strong signals and a couple of weaker ones. All signals received at my usual location in Johannesburg, South Africa. I used a 10 metre long wire for this comparison on both these radios.

I recorded the sound digitally via the Tecsun ICR-110, so what you hear in the video is what you would hear if you were using earphones. I think the speaker on the D-368 sounds better than the one on the D-219.

I do not think either of these radios is better than the other on shortwave. In my opinion, they perform the same. If you only want a good and inexpensive SW radio, the D-219 is your radio. If you need a good and inexpensive SW radio with TF card functionality, the D-368 is your radio. Both are excellent. Both receive distant shortwave signals well, even very weak signals.

Both these radios are available on the XHDATA website:
