Tobela Tapula the CEO at Nxeko Group.He is the former CEO of the South Africa Tobacco Transfomation Alliance (SATTA).

He also work as a Senior Associate for Gateways Business Consultants. Before the above mentioned roles, He was project managing the Thabo Mbeki Presidential Library project at the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, project manager at the Association for Alcohol Responsibility and Education (aware.org).

In the beginning of 2019, He was given an opportunity (for few months) by Lafarge SA, to implement Geocycle South Africa’s (a waste management company and a subsidiary of Lafarge South Africa) turnaround strategy as a Commercial Projects Head. His responsibility was to execute the commercial strategy of Geocycle SA, by growing the strategic customer base in government and blue chip corporates.

Before joining Geocycle SA, He was heading the Public Affairs Division at Lafarge South Africa. The primary responsibility of that role was the implementation of the Lafarge SA's Stakeholder Engagement Strategy. A critical role to ensuring business sustainability, given the regulatory nature of the South African market.The role involved engagements with high level government officials (i.e. Ministers and Director Generals, Members of Parliament, etc) and other business leaders.

Before joining Lafarge SA Tobela worked at Plastics SA as Corporate & Government Affairs Executive Manager.

Between 2011 to 2013, he was a Mining Research Analyst at the University of Stellenbosch and a Parliamentary Liaison & Research Officer at the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA).

Before joining SAIIA in 2011, he was an Advocacy Officer at the Open Democracy Advice Centre from 2008-2011.

In 2007 he worked for the City of Cape Town.

Tobela hold an undergraduate Degree in Criminology, Honours in Public Policy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Masters in Public Administration at the University of Western Cape.
