Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama offers lots of hiking, history, and a beautiful Japanese Garden. Our recent visit there was chilly, but we enjoyed several picturesque trails, a stroll through the North Alabama Japanese Garden and a glimpse at some of the history of the area. To get to the State Park requires a drive up the mountain via a winding road, then you'll drive through a small neighborhood (with some beautiful houses) to reach the park. There is also a a planetarium there, but we weren't able to experience it during this visit.

Just FYI, I recently lost my mom and I talked a little bit about it about 6 minutes into the video. There is a note posted just before I talk about it (so if it is a delicate subject for you and you'd like to skip it, I understand).

Huntsville, Alabama is an amazing city with lots of things to do. We visited the Huntsville Botanical Garden, US Space and Rocket Center (upcoming video) and the Monte Sano State Park - there's lots more to do and we'll make another visit in the Spring!
