Work Hours, PF Contribution, and In-Hand Salary Changes from July 1, 2022 l New Labor Laws

For modernizing and streamlining labor regulations, the Central Government proposed replacing 29 existing labor laws with four codes based on the recommendations of the Second National Commission on Labor (2022). The biggest challenge was to ensure that workers' rights were protected while promoting employment growth.

The hours of office work, contributions to the employee provident fund (EPF), in-hand salaries, paid leave, and gratuities will all change significantly if this proposal is adopted.

The in-hand salary is likely to decrease, despite an increase in working hours and PF contributions.
