A 1988 European film was made about this place, so no surprise that this has become a popular tourist attraction among international travelers. The place re-opened in mid-2022 and Andrea Pruett, the owner (since her husband passed away), is usually there to greet people from all around. A Hampton Hotels Save-a-Landmark historical marker was placed there in 2003 and still stands.
