I will be accepting a partnership with Chrono.gg in the next week or so - I am aiming to do streams when a game they are offering a deal on peaks my interest, so before I even make this more public via youtube I would like to get what is going on completely 100% clear, I am not going to be one of those Youtubers that try and hide partnerships or even try to make links look like non-affiliate link.
During this partnership, I will be able to get free steam keys for any game they are covering at the time, the game will NOT be payed for from my own pocket, it will be from Chrono.
I am NOT sponsored to give a good review, I am not directly linked to any game I am covering, If I dislike a game I will do my best to state this, likely not streaming it for too long, this said, I understand that some may feel that my opinions are scewed for reasons brought up in the next point, and I completely understand this.
The way I will be making money is via an affiliate link which will be made public soon, using this link and then purchasing the game on sale at the discounted price will give me a small % of the price of the game.
The reason why I have chosen to accept this partnership is that I have a great deal of control over what games I cover, and the link to Chrono is very weak, I can leave at any time, and have almost complete freedom - I can bad mouth a game all I want without any repercussion from the site nor the game developer. Some Youtubers I really look up to such as Totalbiscuit have partnered with Chrono which has helped me come to the conclusion to follow this.
I have never accepted donations as I have been able to support myself via adsense on Youtube and as such felt wrong accepting more from just doing my job, I feel this is a nice way to get a little more revenue for the channel (Saving up for a new mic, sound proofing, PC upgrade, and VR setup right now.) Whilst still giving something to the person putting money in, in the form of game I hope they will enjoy, in the same way as I accept Twitch subscriber fees - giving emotes and priority to chat with me during streams and possibly in co-op games giving priority team places.
I may feel more strongly about explaining all this than lots of other small Youtubers, as I have never been someone who likes the concept of doing something purely for money, faking my personality under any circumstance for tips, donations, or in general for monetary gain, I am a reserved person by nature, slow to show excitement or hype in any major reactionary way or even positive inclinations towards new things, changing this would feel wrong for the purpose of pleasing others and for personal gain - so when going into something like this I really need to be sure this will not happen and I feel this is one of those cases in which I can stay myself.
I hope everyone will understand this partnership, and It will lead to some pretty cool games being found for myself and for those who view my streams, in addition to making streams more regular as I have been desperate to start with again for the last few months!
