STORYLINE:

A Palestinian bus driver thwarted a possible bomb attack on Wednesday when he alerted Israeli authorities to a passenger who, police later revealed, was wearing an explosives belt.

The bus was traveling from Jerusalem to the nearby Jewish settlement of Maale Adummim when the driver spotted the suspect person.

The driver reportedly stopped at the next roadblock - and informed border police.

Israeli police say they boarded the bus, overpowered the man and diffused the bomb at the scene.

He was then arrested.

It is not clear whether the man had intended to blow himself up in a suicide attack, or if he intended on planting the bomb and detonating it at a later time.
