The #2-ranked Florida State defense rose to the occasion and Warrick Dunn powered their running game to lead the Seminoles to a 24-21 victory over #1-ranked Florida in the last game of the 1996 regular season. The game goes down as not only one of the best in this rivalry as well as college football history.

Warrick Dunn rushed for a career-high 185 yards in the game and fullback Pooh Bear Williams scored two short rushing touchdowns. Peter Boulware blocked a punt and Shevin Smith had a key interception in the 1st Quarter for the Noles.

The victory moved Florida State to #1 in the country and positioned them for a chance to win the national Championship.
