Bhopal Shock: 22-Year-Old Student Di*es After Being Beaten by Cops

Newly obtained CCTV footage has intensified public outrage over the fatal assault of a BTech student, Udit Gayki, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, last week. The video, reviewed exclusively by NDTV, reportedly shows Udit running partially undressed through the Indrapuri area while a police constable, rifle slung over his shoulder, chases him. The footage further appears to show one officer pressing the tip of his shoe against the student’s foot while another speaks to his friends nearby. Analysts of the footage suggested that the clip contradicts initial official accounts and depicts sustained use of force that preceded Udit losing consciousness and being declared dead at AIIMS Bhopal. Medical reports indicated that the final-year engineering student had suffered a ruptured pancreas.
