https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?p... -If the aggregate is becoming full, then Data ONTAP will automatically start deleting the snapshots, and no space will be reserved for the aggregate snapshots. If the aggregate file system becomes inconsistent, the aggregate snapshot copies can be used by technical support to restore the file system to a consistent state. Because each node's root aggregate is dedicated for Data ONTAP, it is recommended to maintain the default aggregate snapshot configuration on that aggregate. For data aggregates, it is recommended to disable the automatic aggregate snapshot copy creation to increase the storage utilization and reduce the system work maintaining aggregate snapshots copies.
