Adding An LED: A Galaxy's Edge Droid Depot R2 Dome Mod

Описание к видео Adding An LED: A Galaxy's Edge Droid Depot R2 Dome Mod

How I modified my R2 unit from the Droid Depot at Galaxy's Edge to give it an extra LED in its dome. This video shows the entire process from, "How could I..." to "It works!". I suspect the electronics in other domes will differ from what is in the R2 dome, but there should be enough information here to help other dome owners figure out similar mods.

The key points (to me):
- Rather than attempt to solder to the existing PCBs, it is much easier to splice into the wire that connects the LEDs to the dome connector.
- No more than 20mA of current should be sunk on any of the three LED wires in the dome. Adjust resistor values of existing LEDs and add new resistors as appropriate.
- When changing hot glue sticks, go through at least one full stick to clear out any previous glue stick color before using your new glue stick color.

Here is my flickr album containing the photos I took of my R2 dome: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ruthsar...
