With Amazon, the barriers to becoming an online merchant are extremely low. Merchants wanting to sell online product can do so easily with Amazon Pay or with their Amazon Seller program. One drawback to this is that it will pull Amazon into your chargeback process, so let's discuss how to deal with these with both Amazon services.

Amazon Pay and Amazon Seller are two different offerings, and each has their own aspects when it comes to chargebacks. Amazon Seller is for merchants who want to operate a storefront on Amazon, while Amazon Pay is for merchants who operate their own eCommerce site. Chargebacks with either of these will involve you to work with Amazon to address it, and if it does end up going through, Amazon will deduct you the costs and fees associated with it.

For Amazon Seller, merchants have three different options to address these chargebacks, and they have seven days to take action.

For Amazon Pay, chargebacks are categorized into two different categories, and merchants have eleven days to respond to this. If they choose to dispute the chargeback, the merchant is charged a fee by Amazon.

The best way to deal with chargebacks is to prevent them from happening in the first place. This can be achieved through various tools to prevent true fraud as well as having great customer service protocols.
