It was observed that applicants of Subclass 887 Skilled Regional visa have initiated an online campaign #887applicantslivesmatter demanding the Government of Australian to accelerate the visa process. They say the 'long delay' is triggering mental and financial hardships for them. The Department of Home Affairs states that it processes visas as per the government's priorities fixed via ministerial orders.

It was observed that some applicants claim that they have been waiting for over 15 months for the outcome of their visa application.
Furthermore, applicants also claim that they face difficulties in jobs, their children pay international tuition fees and they can't buy houses

But on the contrary the Department of Home Affairs claims to increase its visa processing times

Subclass 887 temporary visa permits migrants to reside and seek employment in specified regional areas.
