How to Knit Garter Stitch in the Round

Описание к видео How to Knit Garter Stitch in the Round

While garter stitch, when knitted flat is one of the first stitches beginners learn, garter stitch in the round is made slightly differently. In this video, you'll learn the main difference between the garter stitch in the round knit pattern and the original garter stitch is that garter stitch in the round is formed through one round of knit followed by one round of purl. If you've ever knit stockinette stitch, this will probably sound familiar to you. In stockinette stitch, all of the V sides and purl bump sides are aligned, meaning you have to switch rows of knitting and purling when knitting it flat; however, when you knit in the round, there is no turning of your needles, and there are no wrong sides. Because of that, stockinette and garter stitch are the inverse of each other when knitted in the round. Additionally, this pattern is great if you are designing your own pattern as the notorious bumps of garter stitch work great as an accent on cuffs and for making cowls, headbands, and more.
